Herbal mosquito repellent, bug and insect cream, homemade with organic lemon eucalyptus and effective essential oils, safe for babies & pregnant women.

Bug, insect and mosquito bites are the worst. Even if you do not get bit, just be bugged, buzzed and landed on is annoying at the very least. Bugs, gnats, insects, mosquitoes and their bites besides making backyard bbq’s and camping trips less fun also spread a variety of diseases. This is why most people when spending time outdoors relaxing in their backyard or adventuring in nature wear some sort of bug repellent lotion, cream or spray. The most common and effective insect repellent for mosquitoes and other bugs is DEET sprays. DEET (N,N-diethyl-3-methylbenzamide) is the chemical used in most bug repellents and sprays and while it is effective, it is also a synthetic chemical that can have negative health side effects and doesn’t smell very good. This is why many people today find themselves looking for the best all-natural homemade essential oil and lemon eucalyptus bug repellent creams and herbal lotions that are non-toxic safe, even for babies, pregnant women and effective at repelling gnats, mosquitoes, and other insects. People first started looking for natural essential oil and lemon eucalyptus mosquito repellents in the late 1980’s after a study of Everglades National Park employees, conducted to determine the effects of DEET, found that a full one-quarter of the people experienced negative health effects. Negative effects included rashes, skin irritation, numb and burning lips, nausea, headaches, dizziness, and difficulty concentrating.

The most serious concerns about the use DEET mosquito repellents and why many people are looking for a natural bug, and insect repellents homemade with effective herbal essential oils, lemon, eucalyptus and other organic ingredients, safe for babies and pregnant women, are its effects on the central nervous system. Duke University pharmacologist Mohamed Abou-Donia, found that DEET kills brain cells. Lab animals exposed, frequently and for a prolonged period of time to the equivalent of the amount of DEET in an average human dose of mosquito bug and insect repellent, performed far worse in neurobehavioral tasks requiring muscle coordination than untreated animals. Abou-Donia also found that combined exposure to DEET and permethrin, a mosquito spray ingredient, can lead to learning and memory dysfunction. He concluded that humans should stay away from mosquito repellents and bug/insect sprays containing it. Instead choose to buy the best all-natural bug repellent lotions and herbal creams that use organic and effective ingredients that are safe, even for babies, pregnant women such as essential oils and lemon eucalyptus.

In addition to the health issues, an emergency medicine bulletin notes that DEET may have significantly greater toxicity when combined with ethyl and isopropyl alcohols and Freon, which are components found in some of the most common and popular bug and insect repellents for sale today. Children and babies are especially susceptible to the negative health side of common mosquito repellents. Due to these health risks in 1998, the EPA made it illegal for any products including bug repellents containing DEET to make any child safety claims. Today, mosquito repellents and other products with DEET are required to carry instructions that they should not be used at all by babies under 6 months old. They also carry warnings saying; Do not apply to the hands or near the eyes or mouths of young children. Do not allow young children to apply this product on their own. Do not apply to cuts, wounds, or irritated skin. After returning indoors wash treated skin with soap and water. Do not use under clothing. Do not spray in enclosed areas. This is why most parents and pregnant women find themselves searching for the best non-toxic all natural homemade bug repellents with herbal essential oils, lemon eucalyptus and other organic ingredients that are effective and safe.

Buying natural bug repellents that use essential oils, lemon eucalyptus and other organic ingredients safe for babies and pregnant women will ensure you and your family do not suffer any of the negative health side effects associated with common gnat and mosquito insect repellents. However, you need a herbal bug repellent lotion or cream that isn’t just natural and safe but is also effective. Many natural mosquito repellents for sale today are safe, but are not very effective and preventing gnats and other insects from biting and bugging. After getting into the natural skincare industry and learning about the negative health effects of synthetic chemicals, I started wondering about the chemicals used in bug sprays. After learning about the dangers of DEET and having children, friends, and family of my own that need to use mosquito repellent, I decided to research and make the best possible all natural homemade essential oil and lemon eucalyptus insect repellent that is effective and safe even for babies and pregnant women.
